Rapid Analysis of Tobacco Smoke Biomarkers

UHPLC methods for determining the five relevant biomarkers: nicotine and cotinine, as well as NNAL and also 8-OhdG and m7Gua.

Both RP and HILIC allow for high resolution peaks and fast separation.
In addition to nicotine, the metabolite cotinine is also determined. The challenge here is that this is only detectable for a short time. NNAL, a breakdown product of the lung carcinogen NNK, is also suitable. In addition, human cells are exposed to oxidative stress when smoking. Therefore, typically the characteristic biomarkers 8-OhdG and m7Gua are also evaluated.

The masters of estimation from
analytica are set!

Congratulations to the winners of the 2022 YMC trade fair competition.

You had to lift the YMC-Actus column and demonstrate your excellent skills in estimation of its weight.

Now, of course, we will reveal the weight of the column: 2,435 g

Your estimation results were really impressive!
Four participants got it almost to the point:

  1. Ms. Verena Geitner/Nutrichem diät+pharma GmbH
  2. Ms. Susanne Schoop/Bayer AG Leverkusen
  3. Ms. Fabienne Bahro/Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG
  4. Mr. Jochen Endermann/Bionorica research GmbH

Congratulations to the winners, have fun and get consistently good resolutions with your new YMC column.
Many thanks to all visitors to our booth and for participating in the competition. It was a pleasure to finally see you again in person.
