New application note: LC-MS/MS analysis of DSP toxins
Okadaic acid is diarrhetic toxin (DSP) which can be found in shellfish. Due to its inhibitory effects towards specific protein phosphatases it is a promising compound for various potential medical uses.
This application note shows the LC-MS/MS analysis of okadaic acid and its derivates with different YMC-Triart phases. All phases are suitable for the separation of these compounds with high resolution. The different selectivities of the YMC-Triart family generate the optimum results for specific demands: from excellent resolution to short analysis times.
Furthermore, the YMC-Triart family is the ideal starting point to develop highly sensitive methods including LC-MS/MS.

Ideal solution for LC-MS applications: YMC-Triart
You are looking for LC-MS compatible HPLC phases to develop highly sensitive methods? Detection limit is an important parameter due to low level sample concentration?
By using robust YMC-Triart phase not only can the background noise be reduced, but the sensitivity of the analysis can also be increased. The chromatogram below shows the background noise of an LC-MS blank without column (red) and with a YMC-Triart C18 column (blue). No bleed is observed in the test of total ion current (TIC) measured by LC-MS with blank or with YMC-Triart C18. This is representative for the complete YMC-Triart column family.

Metal-free column hardware ideal for RP separation of phosphorothioate oligonucleotides
Natural substances such as piperine often occur together with very similar derivates or even isomers. Due to their structural similarities they are often difficult to separate from each other.
Piperine is the main alkaloid of different peppers and is responsible for the strong pungent taste. Further, piperine is known to have many pharmacologically relevant effects. Therefore, it is of interest to separate and quantify piperine in plant extracts for further usage.
Using YMC’s Meteoric Core C18 column it is possible to efficiently separate piperine from four of its isomers – users certified!
